LES wall modeling for heat transfer at high speeds

چکیده
Temperature transformation does not collapse data, but the resulting wall model accurately predicts temperatures in high-speed boundary layer flows. Here we explain why this is so. The insights gained lead to a new turbulent Prandtl number formulation and more accurate models.

Advanced near-wall heat transfer modeling for in-cylinder flows
Most of the existing wall heat transfer models employed for in-cylinder flow simulations are not capable of predicting the history and peak value of the heat flux. More comprehensive models that account for density and property variations rely mainly on the standard or low-Reynolds number variants of k-ε turbulence model. Presently applied mesh resolutions already allow for first near-wall comp...
متن کاملMathematical Modeling of Heat Transfer for Steel Continuous Casting Process
Heat transfer mechanisms and the solidification process are simulated for a continuous casting machine and the geometric shape of the liquid pool is predicted considering different conditions. A heat transfer and solidification model is described for the continuous casting of steel slabs. The model has been established on the basis of the technical conditions of the slab caster in the con...
متن کاملNon-equilibrium wall-modeling for internal combustion engine simulations with wall heat transfer
Heat transfer affects the performance and phasing of internal combustion engines. Correlations and equilibrium wallfunction models are typically employed in engine simulations to predict heat transfer. However, many studies have shown that significant errors are expected, owing to the failure of fundamental assumptions in deriving equilibrium wall-function models. Non-equilibrium wall models pr...
متن کاملA Numerical Modeling for Natural Convection Heat Transfer in Porous Media With Generated Internal Heat Sources
In this paper a numerical method is used to study the unsteady state natural convection heat transfer within a confined porous media with uniform internal heat generation. The governing equations based on the Darcy model and Bossiness approximations are solved, using the finite difference Alternating Direction Implicit (ADI) method. The developed program was used to simulate natural convection ...
